​Aurora (Dawns first light)

Aurora came to me in a dream so vivid that I immediately woke up and began sketching the work on paper. In the dream, the piece unfolded before me.

The music, harmony, form and the beauty all around us began taking shape.

It was Dawn's first light. The sun slowly rose, then quickly as it tends to do. Gentle breezes warmed the cool air. Each instrument called and answered the other until they joined as one, shimmering in the glow of a new day.

All things feeling and hearing the beauty of the sun's morning' rays.

I completed the score as the real sunrise filled the room — as if dream and day had merged into a single breath. Aurora is both a beginning and a remembering: music and light woven into one.
