Autumn Landscape: Reflections of the City
While living in New York, one of my favorite things to do was taking the train into Manhattan in the fall. I would walk through Central Park with the trees full of color, go to the Village or walk through the old neighborhoods.
These memories always stayed with me..
Each fall, wherever I am, those memories return. One night while composing, a musical idea appeared—then another—until they insisted on becoming music.
The sounds of the city, concrete and colored trees gently dancing - each speaking and bringing their own uniqueness to the moment. Couples walking as we did through the neighborhoods eating hot chestnuts in the cold air. Soft whispers and sudden intrusions—only New York can hold both.. Every sight, sound, color and person blending together - the beautiful dissonance...
Score: Piano and Orchestra
