A Winter's Tale
We loved taking winter road trips—something we did early in our relationship and still do today. One year, during a quiet getaway to the Berkshires, our Winter’s Tale began on a bright, snow-lit morning.
We hiked through the countryside, talked about the future, and moved through the cold air without a care, feeling our journey together just beginning.
On the way home we stopped at an old country inn, a white historic place filled with warmth and character. We sat by a window near the fireplace, watching the sun fall as snow began drifting from the sky. Soft at first, then steadily heavier—it was a moment that felt almost cinematic. We ate, talked, and said, “Let’s stay here and live.” We didn’t, but the moment stayed with us forever.
Throughout the piece, you can hear the wind calling us back to that night—everything still, quiet, and full of promise.
